Lloyds Banking Group has announced the closure of 95 branches, including 53 Lloyds, 31 Halifax, and 11 Bank of Scotland sites, between May this year and March 2027. The group will have 610 branches remaining once all the announced closures are complete. This move is part of an ongoing trend of banks reducing their presence on the High Street, with many customers opting for online banking and mobile apps. The latest announcement is in addition to an ongoing closure programme by the bank, which will see 49 sites shut by October. Other banks, such as Santander, have also announced branch closures, with 44 branches set to close, putting 291 jobs at risk. The Nationwide building society has pledged to keep all of its 696 branches open until at least 2030.
